Taylor Porter Partner and the Firm's Healthcare Practice Team Leader Patrick Seiter has been elected to the board of directors of The Bridge Center, a nonprofit that helps East Baton Rouge Parish residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The Bridge Center board includes diverse professionals: behavioral health professionals, health care leaders, patient and consumer advocates, attorneys, and justice system leaders who serve two-year terms, and work to fulfill the mission of the organization.
The Bridge Center was launched by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to work with behavioral health officials and justice system leaders to develop a safety net to catch people in crisis, keeping them out of emergency rooms and offering treatment at each point in the judiciary process. The Bridge Center started a pre-trial release program to show that treatment would reduce the jail population and save money. In less than a year, more than 25 people have been diverted to treatment, with about half of them in either therapy or returned to productive lives.
At Taylor Porter, Seiter represents and advises healthcare clients in a wide range of business, transactional and regulatory matters, including business organizations and contracts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, managed care and provider network contracts, fraud and abuse, Stark, health information technology, HIPAA, EMTALA, medical staff, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, federal and state regulatory compliance, and alternative delivery and payment systems. Seiter has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, and was named "Lawyer of the Year" for Healthcare Law in Baton Rouge in 2013 and 2016. He is ranked by clients in Chambers USA among the "Leaders in Their Field" in Healthcare Law in Louisiana. Seiter is a frequent author and lecturer on legal issues in healthcare. Along with his J.D., he holds a Masters of Public Health degree with a concentration in Healthcare Organizations and Policy. In the community, Seiter also serves on the board of directors of the Woman’s Hospital Foundation, dedicated to preserving and advancing the hospital’s mission to improve the health of women and infants.
