Taylor Porter Partner John Andrishok represents clients in labor and employment law and construction litigation.
John is an active member of Associated Builders and Contractors and Louisiana Associated General Contractors and has litigated construction matters throughout the Gulf South. He represents all aspects of the construction industry including public and private owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals. His experience includes heavy highway, industrial, commercial and residential projects. He also devotes a substantial part of his practice to contract enforcement, claim development, lien issues, and public bid disputes.
John has been active on the legislative front having drafted numerous industry-related bills. He formerly served as Special Advisor to the Louisiana Law Institute’s Security Devices Committee, which developed extensive revisions to the Private Works Act that were enacted into law after the 2019 legislative session. He has also served as a Special Master for Construction matters in the 19th Judicial District Court.
In the past, his practice has also included labor and employment, premises liability and oil and gas litigation. With respect to labor and employment matters, John has represented companies in defense of discrimination claims, public accommodation claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act, claims under the Family Medical Leave Act and wage and hour claims. John also leads companies in labor negotiations, elections, and the defense of unfair labor practice claims.
John has been recognized by client review in Chambers USA for Louisiana in construction law since 2012. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and is rated as AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Representative Experience
Construction
- Represented local utility contractor in claims against waterworks district and engineering firm regarding complex concrete and piping design issues. Obtained seven-figure jury verdict against engineering firm after a three-week jury trial.
- Represented recreation and parks commission in connection with numerous claims by contractors.
- Represented national highway contractor in defense of claims by trucking subcontractor. Prevailed after federal court trial in Arkansas.
- Represented national highway contractor in defense of claims by retaining wall subcontractor and which involved a three-week jury trial in state court. Claims against design professionals were favorable resolved prior to trial.
- Represented developer against general liability insurer in federal court seeking indemnity and defense in connection with claims by an adjoining owner. Obtained summary judgment in favor of developer.
- Represented national crane rental company in defense of claims by equipment broker in Federal Court in Mississippi. Matter proceeded to a jury trial and was settled before a verdict was reached.
- Represented mechanical contractor against methanol manufacturer pertaining to amounts due for work performed at its facility in Equitorial Guinea and in defense of multi-million counterclaim alleging defective work. After week long arbitration in Houston, obtained substantial judgment against the owner and all claims of defective work were rejected.
- Represented national highway contactor in defense of claims by dirt subcontractor and asserted counterclaims for damages. After multi-week arbitration, obtained seven-figure ruling against subcontractor and its bonding company.
- Represented Florida university in connection with claims of defective work arising out of the development and construction of a student housing project. Having previously settled against the developer and contractor, after multi-week arbitration, obtained ruling awarding the university damages against the architect of record.
- Represented local developer against Ohio general contractor pertaining to the construction of a hotel in Houston, Texas. Obtained multi-million ruling through arbitration.
- Represented national highway contractor adverse to national engineering firm pertaining to claims of defective pile design pertaining to a MDOT project in Mississippi. Prior to the arbitration ruling, the parties reach a settlement on favorable terms.
- Represented numerous contractors and owners in connection with Louisiana Public Bid disputes.
- Represented regional plumbing contractor in defense of claims of defective work in connection with the development and construction of a student housing project.
- Represented Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors as board counsel in connection with hundreds of claims of violations of licensing laws.

- Represented chemical company in defense of two (2) Americans with Disabilities claims in Federal Court. Obtained summary judgment as to one claims. The second claim proceeded to a jury trial and was dismissed at the close of Plaintiff’s case in chief.
- Represented recreation and park commission in defense of claims of race discrimination in Federal Court. Claims were dismissed by way of summary judgment.
- Represented public healthcare company in Federal Court in defense of sexual harassment claims. Obtained summary judgment dismissing claims in their entirety.
- Represented public gaming company in Federal Court in defense of claims of race discrimination. Obtained summary judgment dismissing claims in their entirety.
- Represented public gaming company in Federal Court in defense of claims of violations of the Family Medical Leave Act. Obtained summary judgment dismissing Plaintiff’s claims in their entirety.
