Katie Goodson represents business clients across various industries in land use, zoning and planning issues; alcoholic beverage licensing and related enforcement issues, regulated industries, and commercial litigation.
Katie is a member of the Taylor Porter alcoholic beverage licensing and related enforcement issues practice and represents national and local companies in the hospitality industry, including restaurants, hotels and retail stores, with an emphasis in alcoholic beverage licensing, compliance and enforcement issues. She also represents alcohol manufacturers. Katie works with numerous regulatory and administrative bodies across the state, including the Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, the Department of Revenue, Departments of Public Works, and Planning Commissions. Her regulatory work with the ATC encompasses all phases of alcohol and tobacco licensing compliance.
Through her land use practice, Katie works with clients in land use transactions, government approvals, and litigation related to use of real property, and obtaining zoning approvals and entitlements, and also negotiating tax incentive and similar agreements for relocations, developments and improvements related to corporate office, retail, mixed-use and industrial projects.
Katie was selected by her peers in Best Lawyers in America in commercial litigation. In 2013, Katie was selected by the Baton Rouge Business Report as one of Baton Rouge’s “Top Forty Under 40” community and business leaders, and in 2015, she received the Mary Frey Eaton Community Service Award.
Katie received her J.D. and B.C.L. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2005. She graduated, cum laude, with a B.A. from Louisiana State University in 2002.

- Counsel for national, regional, and local businesses, including restaurants, convenience, and retail stores, in obtaining alcohol and tobacco licenses, occupational licenses, health permits, and occupancy permits.
- Counsel for various annual events such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Bayou Country Superfest in obtaining necessary licensure.
- Counsel for alcohol manufacturers and businesses in various industries in obtaining necessary licensure, including assistance with zoning and other property issues.
- Counsel for national property management company in various claims involving lease and property issues.
- Participation as counsel in the defense of physicians in multiple jury trials involving medical malpractice claims.
- Participation as counsel for a major chemical manufacturing company in defending multiple occupational disease premises liability suits relating to allegations of asbestos exposure.
- Representation national retail pharmacy as liaison to state and local agencies in securing the necessary licensure to conduct business pursuant to corporate merger and restructure.
- Participation as counsel regarding higher education matters for the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College.
